EQUITONE is 100% recyclable and all waste from factories (cutting residues, productions that don’t pass quality control etc.) is currently recycled. Once the material leaves the factory, it remains recyclable but very often practical challenges (logistics, processing know-how,…) pop up in the market, which prevents this waste to end up in landfill. When it comes to environmental sustainability, “Less is more” is probably a good way to express the main EQUITONE sustainability benefits. Despite being a very thin material, EQUITONE panels are exceptionally resistant, thus providing a high quality building skin. Even though cement is a carbon intensive raw material, there is simply so little of it in the 8 mm board that the net footprint per m² installed façade is very favourable when compared to other materials. This however does not mean that we sit back and relax: we use our supplier relations, material know-how and production skills to relentlessly seek for options to further reduce our material footprint, both in terms of carbon, water consumption, virgin raw material etc.

We have a talent for process control and quality control, so production flows are well streamlined and very energy efficient. EQUITONE factories also produce more than half of the required energy locally through solar panels and CHP systems. The remaining energy is supplied with green certificates of origin.

We are progressing very fast with an initiative to collect material and gather them for reuse / recycling.
